Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTER) is organized by Central Board for Secondary Education.
In order to be eligible to teach classes I_VIII candidate need to give the CTET entrance test. CTET applies to the schools stated below:
Central Government Schools (KVS, NVS, and Tibetan Schools etc.) schools who are under administrative control of UT of Chandigarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and NCT of Delhi. Unaided Private Schools who consider CTET. Schools controlled as well as administered by State Government or Local Bodies if the State decides not to conduct State TET. Online application will soon be made available on CBSE official website for CTET 2015.
Step for filling up CTER 2015 Application Form candidates can however apply online for CTET 2015 through CBSE official website. Candidates need to fill the details and information online.
After submitting the online application, a confirmation page will be formed with the registration number. Take 2 printouts of this confirmation page. Candidates must need to keep a copy of this confirmation page with them for the further use.
You need to paste your recent passport size photograph in the space that is being provided. For payment of fees, you need to pay through challan by deposing the fees in CBSE account with Syndicate Bank or e-post Office in favour of ‘Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi’.

CTET 2015 Exam Pattern:
CTET 2015 is a objective type paper having multiple choice questions i.e. MCQs no negative marking will be there.
There are 2 papers, namely:
Those who want to teach classes I-V have to appear for CTET 2015 Paper I, those who want to teach classes Vi-VIII have to appear for CTET 2015 Paper I.
Candidates who want to reach classes I_VIII have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).
The Candidates having the minimum educational qualification are eligible for rare pursuing in CTET is quoted below:
Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I_V (Primary stage) Senior Secondary with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Senior Secondary with atleast 45% marks and passed or are pursuing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
Senior Secondary with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in final year of 4-year bachelor of Elementary Education (B El Ed). Senior Secondary with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special education) Candidates who have completed graduation and passed or are pursuing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Minimum Qualification for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII:
Elementary stage Graduation and passed or are pursuing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). Graduations with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in 1-year Bachelor in education (Bed). Graduation with atleast 45% marks and passed or are pursuing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (Bed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. senior Secondary with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B El Ed), senior Secondary with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in final year of 4-year BA/B.Sc. Ed or BA Ed/B.Sc. Ed candidates who have completed Graduation with atleast 50% marks and passed or are pursuing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education), × Note 5% of relaxation in the qualifying marks in the minimum educational qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to the reserved classes like SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled candidates.
Diploma or Degree Course in Teacher Education:
For the purposes of this notification, a diploma or degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.
Training to be undergone:
A person with D.Ed. (Special Education) qualification shall undergo after appointment an NCTE recognized 6-month special Program in Elementary education. Minimum qualifications as described above apply to teachers of Languages, Social Studies or Social Science, Mathematics, Sciences etc. In case of the teachers for Physical education the minimum qualification norms for Physical Education teacher’s referred to in NCTE Regulation, dated 3rd November, 2001 as amended with time shall be applicable.
For teachers of Art education craft education, Home Science, Work Education, etc. The existing eligibility norms prescribed by the State Governments and other school managements shall be applicable till such time the NCTE lays down the minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers. Candidates studying in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary education etc. are provisionally admitted and their CTET Certificate shall be valid only on passing the Examinations. Candidates, who are not having any of the above mentioned qualification, hence not be eligible for pursuing in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test.
As per the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had vide Notification dated 23rd August, 2010 and 29th July, 2011 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to the eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII. it had been inter alia provided that one of the necessary qualification for a person to be consider eligible for the appointment as a teacher in any of the schools as mentioned in the clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that he or she must clear the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which is organized by the ruling Government as per the Guidelines being quoted by the NCTE.
Rationale for covering the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to the eligible for appointment as a teacher is stated below:
It will bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in recruitment procedure. It will foster teacher education institutions and students from these institutions and enhance the performance level. It will show a positive signal to all stakeholders that the Government puts special focus on teacher quality. The ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India has entrusted the responsibility of organizing the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education Delhi.
Paper I (for classes I to V) Primary Stage:
Duration of examination Two-and-a half hours structure and content (All Compulsory): (Appendix I)
(i) Child development and Pedagogy 30 MCQs 30 marks
(ii) Language I 30 MCQs 30 marks
(iii) Language II 30 MCQs 30 marks
(iv) Mathematics 30 MCQs 30 marks
(v) Environmental Studies 30 MCQs 30 marks
Total 150 MCQs 150 marks
Nature and standard of questions:
- The test items on Child development and Pedagogy will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years. They will focus on understanding the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.
- The test items in Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction. The test items in Language II will focus on the elements of language. Communication and comprehension abilities. Language II will be a language other than Language I. A candidate may choose any one language as Language I and other as Language II from the available language options and will be required to specify the same in the confirmation page.
- The Test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In all these subject areas, the test items will be evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that subject prescribed for classes I – V by the NCERT/CBSE.
- The questions in the test for Paper I will be based on the topics prescribed in syllabus of the NCERT/CBSE for classes I –V but their difficulty standard as well as linkages, could be up to the secondary stage.
Paper II (for classes VI to VIII) Elementary Stage:
Duration of examination – Two-and-a-half hours structure and content (All Compulsory): (Appendix I)
(i) Child Development & Pedagogy (Compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 marks.
(ii) Language I (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 marks.
(iii) Language II (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 marks.
(iv) (a) For Mathematics and Science Teacher : 60 MCQs 60 marks Mathematics and Science.
(b) For Social Studies/Social Science Teacher: 60 MCQs 60 marks Social Science.
(c) For any other Teacher – either (a) or (b) total 150 MCQs 150 marks.
Nature and standard of questions:

LANGUAGE OF THE QUESTION PAPER:
Main question paper shall be bilingual (Hindi/English).
QUALIFYING MARKS AND AWARD OF CTET CERTIFICATE
The candidates appearing in CTET will be issued Marks Statement.
The Candidates securing 60% and above marks will be issued Eligibility Certificate.
- School Managements (Government, Local bodies, Government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to person belonging to SC/St, OBC, differently abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation policy.
- Qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
VALIDITY PERIOD OF CTET CERTIFICATE:
The Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.
There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.
